What do you call a white-collar criminal who crosses into an even deeper level of evil by murdering his victim as well? You call him a red-collar criminal! That is the focus of a clever new podcast that just launched in December of 2020—Red Collar.
Stories about white-collar crime are particularly entertaining to me. As both a businessman and a true-crime fan, the subject is an interesting cross-section of intrigue and entertainment for me. Throw in violence and murder, and the cases are even more captivating… in a strange and disturbing way, of course.
The host probably shares my intrigue, as Red Collar is superbly narrated by Catherine Townsend, who brings the chilling stories to life. She dives into the minds of these real-life American Psycho(s).
The background music in each episode also adds to the suspense and intrigue for the listener. You probably won’t notice it, which is a good thing. Unless you are listening with the intent to review a podcast, those tuning in for entertainment purposes would likely only notice the music if it was distracting. That is definitely not the case with Red Collar.
If you are a fan of the television show American Greed, I’m sure you will enjoy Red Collar. So, if that is the case, or if you are just looking for a new, quality true-crime podcast with a slightly different niche, this is one to add to your favorites.
