The Mindfulness and Grief Podcast is hosted by thanatologist Heather Stang. In case you’re wondering, a thanatologist examines death from many perspectives. While this may sound morbid, this podcast is not at all depressing. In fact, it is surprisingly hopeful in both the content and tone of the conversations.
Let’s face it: we all have to deal with grief at some point. This show proves that there is life after loss. Whether you need to cope with bereavement or you’re a grief professional, Heather teaches you how to apply a mindful approach to grief, so you can navigate difficult emotions, exercise self-compassion, and develop a self-care practice. For example, recent guest Faith Wilcox shared how self-expression through writing leads to healing.
Heather’s mindfulness exercises also help you celebrate the life and memories of your loved one. The techniques are designed to help you cope with the pain of loss, and as a result, they improve your emotional, mental, and physical health.
Of course, it is critical to have helpful resources and a strong support system when you’re grieving. Heather is the author of Mindfulness & Grief and the guided journal From Grief to Peace. In her community, she offers guided meditations and livestreams for support. It is comforting to know you don’t have to go through a time of mourning alone.
