Did you ever want to know what it\u2019s like to be a 911 call taker? If you attended CrimeCon in Las Vegas on April 30<\/span>th<\/span>, you might have had the chance. Brandon Hall, host of <\/span>Music City 911<\/span><\/i> and active 911 dispatcher in Nashville, led The 911 Experience session.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of the program, a few attendees had the chance to take a few mock 911 calls in front of the audience. As the participants found out, even in a fictitious setting, it\u2019s a pretty hard job.<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, Brandon\u2019s reaction to the first participant who failed to get any of the necessary information from the caller? \u201cYou\u2019re fired,\u201d in his best <\/span>Apprentice<\/span><\/i> voice.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you didn\u2019t have the chance to attend CrimeCon and Brandon\u2019s session, you can still get a feel for what it\u2019s like to be a 911 call taker. And you don\u2019t have to get on stage in front of hundreds of people to do it.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will only take an episode or two to realize why the job of a 911 call taker is one of the most stressful around. It takes a special person to answer the calls made on the worst day of people\u2019s lives.<\/span><\/p>\n
